Onycholysis - exfoliation of the nail from the nail bed. This is a variant of acquired onychodystrophy, which is manifested by the separation of the nail plate from the distal or distal-medial edge. It cannot grow to the bed, as a result of which the affected area visually stands out in the form of a white opaque area.
