About the procedure
Cryodestruction is a minimally invasive method of tumor removal using ultra-low temperatures. It is characterized by painlessness, safety and a quick recovery period. The essence of the cryodestruction method consists in freezing tissues that have undergone pathological changes with liquid nitrogen. Under the influence of cold, water in tissues turns into ice crystals, which damage cell membranes. Irreversible destruction of cells occurs. In podiatry, cryodestruction is used to remove common and plantar warts, papillomas, stem calluses and keratosis.

Procedure
How is cryodestruction performed?
Before the procedure, the podiatrist conducts an examination, cryodestruction is not performed until the podiatrist determines the type of tumor. Next, the formation is treated with liquid nitrogen, the podiatrist freezes the neoplasm with liquid nitrogen at a temperature of -195 C. The treated area begins to turn pale. The patient feels a slight tingling sensation, the podiatrist checks the quality of the treatment to make sure that the nitrogen has touched 100% of the neoplasm's tissues. The procedure takes up to 15 minutes. After cryodestruction, the neoplasm dies and is gradually replaced by healthy skin. At first, the place of removal resembles a burn, and then it becomes covered with a crust. It is not recommended to peel it off yourself, it will fall off by itself after a few days.
Course
What is the course for cryodestruction?
Deep neoplasms are not removed at once, so as not to damage the surrounding healthy tissues with too intense freezing. Preferably, 2-3 procedures are prescribed with an interval of 14 days.

Care
Care after cryodestruction:
After cryodestruction, the treated area swells and turns red for 2-3 hours - this means that the blood supply is restored. After some time, a crust appears at the place of removal, then it falls off when new, healthy skin forms under it. Do not allow contact of the treated wound with clothing, so as not to damage the protective film. Do not stick with plaster, so as not to disrupt air exchange. Do not peel off the crust, so that a scar does not appear. You can take a shower, but you can't rub and steam the treated area. If necessary, you can use healing ointments on the recommendation of a specialist.
