About the procedure
Keratoma is a benign neoplasm of flesh-colored or various shades of brown skin. Usually, its shape is compared to a nodule, and when it grows, it is compared to a plaque. It is better to remove a keratoma with a laser in the early stages. Otherwise, they grow on the surface layers of the epidermis, which is accompanied by peeling and further excessive keratinization.
Types of keratoma
There are several types of keratoma:
decrepitude;
horn;
follicular;
seborrhea.
Keratoma occurs on the skin of men and women equally often. First of all, those parts of the body that are intensively exposed to the sun are at risk: neck and face, hands, lower legs, back, etc.

How is the laser keratoma removal procedure performed?
Before starting the procedure, the dermatologist collects an anamnesis and checks whether there are any contraindications to the procedure. Laser removal is based on a laser beam that works on the affected area of the skin. Keratoma removal by laser is one of the most effective modern techniques. Its essence consists in painless vaporization of the neoplasm by exposure to high temperature. Thanks to the cooling system with which the laser device is equipped, the patient does not feel discomfort. It does not matter where the keratoma is located, laser keratoma removal is possible on any part of the body, including the hair. The wound heals in just 1-2 weeks, no traces remain, there are no age restrictions on the use of the laser method.

Care after the procedure:
After removal, it is important not to wet the removal site for two days. Treat the skin with a special antiseptic prescribed by the doctor. Do not visit the baths or swimming pools for two weeks. After a crust forms on the skin, it is impossible to tear it off, to scratch the skin at the place of the procedure, as this can lead to the formation of a scar. After the crust falls off by itself, you need to apply sunscreen with an SPF30 or higher, especially if the removal was in an open area.
