About the procedure
Port-wine spots are a congenital pathology, the characteristic features of which are flat vascular spots that appear on the skin and have, as a rule, indistinct borders. It is not common, but equally common, both among men and among women, at birth. The appearance of a port-wine stain is associated with the so-called capillary angiodysplasia, which involves the growth of blood vessels in the upper layer of the dermis. A port-wine stain can be irregular in shape, have a bright color from dark pink to crimson. In the absolute majority of cases, the port-wine stain is present on the baby's skin at birth. Most often, the port-wine stain in children is on the face and head, but it also happens on the body. At first, the port-wine stain looks flat and pink, as the child grows, the color of the stain can increase to purple-red, purple, and the pathological tissues often undergo hypertrophy, gradually becoming nodular-bumpy and dense.

How is the procedure performed?
The Harmony XL Pro device with a wave of 1064 nm is successfully used by our doctors to remove port-wine stains, they are well exposed to the laser beam, the radiation of which is attracted by deoxyhemoglobin and oxyhemoglobin, components of blood. The laser beam, attracted to the vessels by the target cells, strongly heats the walls, as a result, they stick together and stop functioning. Externally, the positive effect is manifested by the gradual "paleness" of the spot, which completely dissolves over time. The location of the spot and the phototype of the skin do not matter. With the help of laser removal, pathologies can be removed both on the body and on the face, in particular in the immediate vicinity of the eyes. The procedure is painless.
How long does the course last?
Removal of port-wine stains is usually a course procedure, for complete removal approximately 10 procedures are required with an interval of two to four weeks between them. The exact number of sessions is determined by the area of the spot and the intensity of its color. Visible lightening of the spot is observed after the first removal.
