About the procedure

Trichoscopy is a modern method of computer diagnostics of the condition of the skin of the scalp and hair, which helps to determine the cause of the disease, make an accurate diagnosis and monitor the results of treatment.

Trichoscopy at the Myroslava Novosilska Clinic is included in the price of a consultation with a trichologist.

Trichoscopy is carried out at the first appointment with the trichologist to diagnose the disease, and in the future, if necessary, the trichologist can perform trichoscopy even at each visit to control the treatment of diseases of the scalp and hair (for example, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis), and in order to the patient saw intermediate results during the treatment, while nothing is still visible to the naked eye (in case of alopecia - hair growth up to 1 mm in length).

Preparation

2 weeks before the diagnosis of the scalp and hair, we do not recommend dyeing the hair, as the dye may remain on the skin of the patient's head for a longer time.

The day before the planned examination, you need to wash your hair twice with shampoo.

The day before the procedure, you cannot use shampoos for deep cleansing, peeling for the hairy part of the head, and use styling products, the use of which will not allow the trichologist to qualitatively assess the condition of the patient's scalp on the day of the trichoscopy.

How is trichoscopy performed

We carry out diagnostics using high-quality and modern equipment. The device used for diagnosis consists of a microscope with a video camera, which is connected to a computer and with the help of a special program, the image is displayed on the monitor screen in front of the patient. This device allows you to make a fifty-fold increase in the area being examined.

The patient takes a comfortable position in the chair, and our trichologist uses the device to examine individual areas of the head (frontal, temporal, occipital, and parietal), as well as assess the condition of the hair along its length. Based on the results of this examination, the doctor can assess the condition of the scalp, hair follicles, the activity of the sebaceous and sweat glands, determine whether there is an inflammatory process on the scalp, and also assess the structure of the hair shaft.

Based on the results of this study, the trichologist of our Clinic can make an accurate diagnosis. If necessary, the trichologist will refer you to additional examinations, such as: blood analysis, consultations of related specialists (gynecologist, endocrinologist), make up a treatment plan, select professional care or hardware procedures for treatment, recommend means for scalp and hair care for home use.
